Around twelve the phone arrives and the talking stops. The kid who told you everything answers in one word. The friends change. The door closes.
You are not the only one. More than half of American parents say they are seriously worried about their teenager's mental health, and their top three worries are all on a screen.
This is the age we were built for.
What a Wednesday looks like
Grades 6 to 12, every Wednesday during the school year. Worship, a message straight from the Bible, small groups where they actually talk, games, food, and real hangout time. It is not a babysitting program.

Youth also meet on Sundays during the 10:30am service, so you can be in the room next door.

One trusted adult
Young people with no adult mentor outside the family: 24% say life never feels like it has purpose. With one mentor, it drops to 6%.

A room they belong in, every week
Harvard followed more than 5,000 young people for up to 14 years. Those who attended a faith community weekly as teenagers were 18% more likely to report high happiness as adults, with less depression, less drug use and a stronger sense of purpose.

Friends who pull them up
Parents whose teens are in a youth program name positive friendships as the second biggest gain, right after worshipping together. Teens themselves say they want depth with friends and with adults, not more events.

Dreamers Youth at Alpharetta is led by Pastor Ben Evans, an Australian youth pastor, and a team of leaders who actually care about who your kid is becoming. Students here are trusted and challenged, not managed.

Safe, and provably so
- Every youth leader completes an application and screening before they serve.
- Every leader holds a current background check, reviewed and renewed. A leader with an expired check does not serve.
- Leader-to-student ratios are kept at every gathering, with extra leaders for camps and trips.
- Male and female leaders on every team.

- What do they bring?
- Nothing. Themselves.
- Can I come in the first night?
- Yes. Come in, meet the team, and see the room before you go.
- Where do I drop off and pick up?
- 12150 Morris Road, Alpharetta. Walk them to the door and a leader will meet you there. Doors at 6:30, pickup at 9:00.
- Sundays too?
- Youth meet during the 10:30am service on Sundays. You can be in the room next door.
- When exactly?
- Sunday's at 10:30am and Wednesday at 6:30pm
Every culture. One family.
Alpharetta is one of the most multicultural cities in Georgia, and Wednesday night looks like it. Your kid will sit next to kids whose families came from everywhere, and nobody has to leave their story at the door to belong.
The questions parents actually ask
- My kid doesn't want to go.
- Most don't, the first time. Ask for one Wednesday. Our team meets them at the door, they get a name, a small group and food, and the second week is their call.
- We're not religious.
- You are welcome, and so are they. Dreamers is a church youth group and we do not hide it: there is worship and a message from the Bible every week. Nobody is pressured, and plenty of families started with a kid who just wanted somewhere to be on a Wednesday.
- What ages exactly?
- Grades 6 to 12. Middle school and high school students both meet on Wednesday night.
- Is it safe?
- Every leader is screened and background checked, ratios are kept, and there are male and female leaders on every team. The full policy is above, and you can ask for it.
